Watercolor Painting

Watercolor Artwork
Speed captured in watercolor. Legendary racing cars—the Porsche 911 Turbo, BMW 2002, Aston Martin DB5—come alive on French watercolor paper. Artist Minseok Kang delicately captures the sense of speed and tension through a technique that blends watercolor and acrylic. The 'At full speed' series captures the fleeting speed and beauty of racing cars, 'Race in the City' the heat of the urban race, and 'Light in the Darkness' the presence of cars glowing in the dark. Works depicting the Yeongam Motor Rock Festival are also included. On dedicated French paper, the transparent materiality of watercolor perfectly renders the momentary nature of speed.

Motor Magazine Watercolor
Original watercolor works born from a collaboration with Motor Magazine Korea. Cars that drew attention at the time—the Volvo XC90, BMW 5 Series, Lexus GS F, Lincoln Continental, Renault Samsung QM6, and Hyundai—are rendered in watercolor. Created mainly in 2016, these works are the original paintings for magazine covers and editorial illustration, realizing the form and light of each car through delicate brushwork on dedicated watercolor paper. Beyond mere depiction, they interpret each vehicle's unique character and emotion through Minseok Kang's distinctive watercolor language.

Motor Magazine Cover
For the first time in Motor Magazine Korea's history, Minseok Kang's watercolor artwork graced its covers. From the May 2016 issue through the March 2017 issue, these works were created as cover illustrations for the monthly Motor Magazine. A point where Kang's automotive art meets publishing media, it was the first attempt in Korea to breathe pure painterly sensibility into the cover of an automotive magazine.
