A DREAM CAR : Racing the Dream — A New Year, the Automobile Back at the Starting Line
This exhibition, organized by Corner Gallery (Jae-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul), places at its center Kang's artistic inquiry mediated through the automobile. At the starting line opening the new year of 2025, A DREAM CAR : Racing the Dream holds the ideals and yearnings of contemporary people who leave old traces behind and dream of a new race. Through the symbolic medium of the automobile, Corner Gallery sought to visually unfold the human challenge toward dream, time, and future.
Time Leap · Paint Desert — Seventeen Works from Two Series
The exhibition comprises a total of seventeen works from Kang's two signature series — Time Leap and Paint Desert.
The Time Leap series moves across past, present, and future to express the challenge and hope of searching for identity. The material experiment combining embroidery floss and acrylic visualizes the multilayered, dynamic nature of time and holds the story of contemporary people confined within it.
The Paint Desert series is composed of the distinctive texture and color created by repeating the process of paint accumulating and drying on the canvas. The cracks and layers on the surface act like the traces time leaves as it passes, and within those traces the viewer comes to face a desert of their own.
Racing the Dream — A Question Turned Back to the Viewer
Beyond simply appreciating artworks, this exhibition offers the viewer an occasion to look back on their own dreams and goals and to resolve on a new challenge. As its title "Racing the Dream" suggests, the exhibition becomes a symbol of a new departure carrying hope and passion.
